So you’ve got a great domain and hosting — now you need a website. Until recently that meant two choices: pay a developer, or wrestle with a drag-and-drop website builder that’s slow, restrictive, and charges you a monthly fee forever.
There’s a better way now. AI tools like Claude can design a complete, beautiful, mobile-friendly website for you — you just describe it in your own words. And because you get real files at the end, the website is truly yours: upload it to your hosting once and it’s online. No lock-in, no subscriptions, no builder.
What you’ll need
- A domain name
- cPanel hosting from Name.am
- An account at claude.ai
Step 1 — Describe your website
Open claude.ai/design and describe your website the way you’d describe it to a friend. For example: “A website for my bakery in Yerevan — warm colors, a photo gallery, our story, opening hours, and a contact section with a map.” The more details you give (business name, colors you love, sections you need), the better the first draft will be. You can write in Armenian, English, or Russian — Claude understands them all.
On the free plan? Claude Design is part of Claude’s paid plans (Pro and up), but you can still build your site for free: start a regular chat and ask Claude to create your website as a single HTML file — it will build it right there in the conversation, and you can download the file when you’re done.
Step 2 — Polish it until you love it
Claude designs the page right in front of you. Don’t like the colors? Say so. Want a bigger photo, a different font, an extra section for reviews? Just keep chatting — every change takes seconds, and you can’t break anything.
Step 3 — Download your website as a ZIP
Happy with the result? Export your website and choose the ZIP download. A real website is more than a single HTML file — images, styles, and scripts come with it — and the ZIP keeps everything together in one neat archive. (If you built your site in a regular chat, just download the HTML file Claude created.)
Step 4 — Upload it to your hosting
Two easy ways — pick whichever you prefer:
- cPanel File Manager: log into your cPanel (you’ll find a cPanel login button on your hosting card, under your domain’s attached services in your Name.am account), open File Manager, go to the public_html folder, upload the ZIP, and click Extract. Make sure the files end up directly in public_html, not in a subfolder.
- FTP: connect with any FTP client (like FileZilla) using the username and password you created for your hosting — the server IP is shown on the same hosting card — and copy all the files into public_html.
Step 5 — Rename the main file to index.html
Your hosting shows the file named index.html when someone visits your domain. If your main page is called something else (like website.html or my-site.html), right-click it in File Manager and rename it to index.html. Leave the other files and folders right next to it — they’re the images, styles, and scripts your site needs.
Step 6 — Open your domain 🎉
Type your domain into the browser — and there it is. Your website, designed by AI, hosted on your own domain, live for the whole world. And not a monthly builder fee in sight.
Want to go further? Meet Claude Code
If you’re comfortable with slightly more technical tools, Claude Code takes this even further: it can build multi-page websites, edit your existing files, add contact forms, and grow the site together with your business. Same idea — you describe, it builds — but with no limits.
That’s the whole secret: you don’t need a website builder — you need a good domain, solid hosting, and an AI that listens. If you don’t have hosting yet, grab a cPanel plan here, and if anything feels tricky, message us in the online chat or email info@name.am — we’re happy to help.
